Having made my way from Jackson, MS, where I was born, to Kingsport, TN, where I grew up, to my husband’s hometown of Washington, D.C., I settled in Starkville with Jim in 1979. Our family has been at Emmanuel for over 20 years. My family includes our daughter, Olivia U. Clupny, her husband, Josh, and our grandchildren, Clara-Jane and Jack, of Manitou Springs, Colorado, and our son Patrick, of Denver, Colorado. I am in the 11th year as church secretary. Jim and I also teach Sunday school for grades 4-6. As secretary, the best parts of the job are interaction with people and trying to know and meet needs of our church family and our community. In my life apart from the job, I love baseball, especially the Bulldogs and NY Yankees, history, writing, and the mountains any time I can be there.
Emmanuel has been Katie’s church family since she was very young. She was discipled at Emmanuel while in the youth group, college ministry, and worship ministry. Katie received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from MSU and a Master’s in Piano Pedagogy from Louisiana State University. Serving alongside other musicians and worship leaders in Baton Rouge and Starkville has played a large role in Katie’s path towards musical worship ministry. Thankful to be back home at Emmanuel, she enjoys collaborating with other musicians for community-wide worship events, teaching piano lessons, playing piano for different events, and growing closer to the Emmanuel worship team family.
